Speaking as someone who’s into recording, composing, producing music myself, I feel they have merely a garage band level of musical and technically skills . Being very fortunate to have the platform given to them as they have right now, they should’ve raised the bar and not lowered it as they did and are doing right now. It’s a shame!

Even their latest London MV is super cheesy with poor melody and musical dynamics. Cheesy punches, rhythm and riffs.

To be honest, I can’t really blame them cos the whole mandarin music industry is in a way like that. Whatever formula works, all the label companies will just use it again n again n again. That is why all Chinese ballads sound almost the same n not many singers stand out! As the saying goes, you are what you listen. Everyone listens to the lame quality music, so new output also sounds the same – lame quality music!

Another example is Mayday. Some newpapers call them asia’s no.1 band, but comparing to some lesser known bands that I know in asia, Mayday can’t even hold a candle. They are simply lucky to have well funded company marketing them. It’s majority marketing and not talent actually!

I rest my case!

That is simply unfair.

Everyone got their rights to sing the song they like using their own way. We need singers who have their own style, imagine him singing the Radiohead way, then they are not Sodagreen anymore.

They’re sodagreen for a reason, that’s their style, that’s qing feng singing styles.

You cannot hate some band you like just by one song the vocalist sang.

Cos his singing style is unique that’s why its not accepted widely by people.

Which is sad, cos we need more unique styles in the music industry.
