Hong Kiat: “Please on your Sky-pee.”
Caker: “What Sky-pee? It’s called Skype without ‘pee’ lah!”
Hong Kiat: “The whole world call it Sky-pee lah!”
Caker: “There’s a feature in Skype called ‘SkypeOut’, doesn’t it sound weird when you pronounce it as ‘Sky-pee-Out’?”
Hong Kiat: “……”
Caker: “Alright, let’s google it!”

Why do they keep calling it SKY-PEE?!?!?

I have heard numerous people pronouncing it as ’sky pee’. I wonder if they pronounce ‘ride’ as ‘ri-deh’. But heck, people might think that, since it’s something techy, it gotta sound something special right?
hahaha, even the PPL selling hardware one at lowyat also read SKYPE..
People say sky-pee, I say sky-pee lor.

Sky-pee-Out… this is real funny!!!
haha.. icic.. But sky-pee sound more interesting & country-wide.
i also call it sky-pee, but when i join my company, they call it skype. when i told them sky-pee, they look like not understand…
I had some Taiwanese colleagues previously and all of them call it Sky-pee. That was the first time I heard it as such. But I’ve always hated it. Skype sounds so much better.
Funny thing is, russians, when they read english, the read it as russian translit (I’m not talking about these who actually learn english), meaning they read each letter as it would sound in russian alphabet, so a word “merge” they pronounce as (use only capital letters) Milk tEle Road Good tEle (мерге). But when it comes to Skype, they say it as “Sky-p”, no “pee” (скайп)…
So, go figure…
Sky-pee… Pee from the Sky?
Hey it’s raining…
