I am a 23 year old Malaysian and I lead a team of dreamers who are working hard to make this country a better place. We are not trying to start a revolution nor are we trying to disrupt the peace. We are merely trying to put back that true sense of peace and unity which we lost when we left primary school. We want to tell the youth of our nation that indeed there is still hope for our nation, that we are not alone. We want all to know that there is indeed a longing for POSITIVE action brewing within all of us in the midst of today’s issues whether we speak of it or not.

Perhaps we have not acted on our troubled conscience because we have long thought we have lost the power to make a difference. If that is so, then you are not alone. That is because I am the same; I too have lost that belief that ‘one can make a difference’. However I believe when 2 or 3 are gathered, incredible things can happen. Therefore, I am willing to try and will leave this in your hands, so that I and more like me can be proven wrong. What we are going to do is give you a matchstick each. How you use it is up to you, but I believe none of you are fools, so please start that fire. The more that joins in, the bigger it will be.

So this is what’s happening; we have taken up the challenge to register 1,000,000 voters by the end of 2010. Even though we do have a SUPERB plan, that’s right, its 6 ZEROS! Impossible? I think so, unless everyone rises up and helps out. Only then can we reach that INSANELY EPIC target. For your information, we are not in this for personal glory, nor are we part of a business gimmick, and definitely not controlled by political parties. Anyways, if we wanted glory and money I think we wouldn’t have set ourselves up for EPIC failure like that.

In an exclusive interview with Malaysiakini yesterday, the Burmese physician said the procedure known as the ‘per-rectal examination’ is a ‘must know’ for doctors.

“Every doctor knows how to do it, that is a normal practice. (One doesn’t) need to be a specialist for that examination,” added the father of three, explaining in detail how the test is done.

The doctor made his first public appearance yesterday after ‘missing’ for more than a month since his medical report, which ruled out that Saiful was sodomised, was leaked to the media.

Following this, Pusrawi Hospital stated that Osman did not conduct a sodomy related check on the patient

Saiful, 23, had accused his former employer Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim of sodomising him and the matter is being heard in court.

Osman subsequently made a statutory declaration that he stood by his findings.

The doctor, accompanied by his lawyers M Puravalen and Yusri Kamarudin, reiterated this at a press conference yesterday.

‘I am qualified’

During the interview with Malaysiakini, Osman also rebutted his employer’s claim that he was not qualified to make a conclusion on a sodomy case.

The hospital management had stated that Osman was not in a position to make the conclusion as he was a general practitioner stationed at the Emergency Unit and not a specialist.

Asked if he was qualified to make such an assessment, Osman answered firmly: “Yes. Every medical doctor can do the test. That is a very basic test.”

According to the leaked medical report, Saiful apparently told the doctor that he was allegedly assaulted with a piece of plastic inserted into his anus.

Anwar – who is the newly-elected Permatang Pauh MP – was subsequently charged with sodomy on Aug 7. He pleaded not guilty and is out on a RM20,000 bond.

‘I want my life back’

Throughout the 25-minute interview, Osman, who appeared fatigued, was cautious in choosing his words, saying that he was bound by doctor-patient confidentiality.

He refused to elaborate on the details about his meeting with Saiful at the clinic when quizzed on this several times. The doctor said he would reveal this if asked to testify in court.

However, he confirmed that Saiful did not mention who had allegedly sodomised him during the medical examination.

Osman also said that he did not advise Saiful to lodge a police report.

The doctor, who hails from southern Burma, has been residing in Malaysia for about 20 years with his family, including one of his three children, who was born and educated in this country.

Osman revealed that part of his reason to return to Malaysia after being away for more than a month was because his youngest daughter is sitting for the UPSR exam next week.

He decided to go on leave because he felt pressured after being grilled by the police on three occasions.

Saying he felt more ‘relieved’ after going on leave, Osman added this is why he chose to come out in public.

Towards the end of the interview, the doctor expressed his desire to return to his work and low-profile life which turned upside down since the medical report was leaked.

“I want my life back,” he said.

Anwar’s wife, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, won the seat with a 13,388 majority at the March 8 general elections.

The official voter turnout was 81.1 percent, or 47,410 out of 58,459 registered voters – which was much higher than what the EC had stated earlier. There were 599 spoilt votes.

The turnout is slightly higher than March 8 – 12 votes more, to be exact.

Meanwhile, outside the main counting centre Tuanku Bainun Teaching Institute, thousands of jubilant PKR supporters had gathered to embrace their leader’s return to Parliament.

PKR vice-president Azmin Ali was there to address the crowd numbering some 6,000. Other party leaders like R Sivarasa and Tian Chua were also there.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang and PAS’ Husam Musa were also there.

Anwar also addressed the ecstatic group of supporters, thanking voters for their support. Tian said that the overwhelming victory showed that “the prime minister’s racial politics is bankrupt”.

The EC made the official announcement at 10.05pm. Only Anwar and Hanafi were present at the announcement. Also present was Wan Azizah.

After the announcement was made, Anwar said that he was touched by the victory.

The victor immediately went to meet his supporters after that.

In an apparent reference to Umno, MCA has called on other Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties to accord it due respect in the aftermath of the ruling coalition’s disastrous performance in the March 8 polls.

“The BN cooperation must be there and it must have enough mutual respect,” MCA president Ong Ka Ting told Malaysiakini in an exclusive interview at the party headquarters in Kuala Lumpur last Friday.

As the second largest Chinese-based BN component party leader, Ong said the ruling coalition must be sensitive and respectful to the need of all races following the strong message sent by voters.

By now, he said Umno leaders must be aware of what went wrong in the past which contributed to the poor showing. He also hinted for the government to accord a more equal status to the non-Malays.

“We expect the Umno leaders when they talk about something for the Malays, they must also think about the lower income group of Chinese and Indians, what plans have you got for them?”

“When you implement policies to help the Malay community, what about the non-Malay community? They also have their problems,” he said.

Bound by code of conduct

In the March 8 polls, BN was dealt a huge blow when it was denied its long-held two-third majority in Parliament and lost four states to Pakatan Rakyat apart from failing to wrest Kelantan away from PAS.

A major reason for this was Chinese and Indian voters turning their backs on MCA and MIC due to resentment over numerous issues.

The discontent has been consistent within the Chinese community since last year. As revealed in a recent poll, the grievances were, among others, over the keris-raising incident in Umno Youth, religious controversies and economic issues.

The Chinese community showed their unhappiness with MCA – which has not been seen as vocal enough to protect the community’s interest – through the poll.

The elections saw a significant reduction in the party’s representation. In Parliament, from 31, the party now only has 15 representatives. At the state level, the number dwindled from 76 to 31.

Responding to this, Ong said it was merely a perception that the party – with four ministers sitting in the cabinet – has not done enough for the community.

“The problem is once you are sworn in as a minister, you cannot disclose anything to anybody and must stick to the code of conduct as a minister,” he said.

‘I don ‘t want to praise myself’

The 51-year-old president, who took over as party chief in 2003, also rejected the argument that he is ‘weak’ in dealing with these contentious issues.

“I don’t want to angkat bakul (praise myself) to say I am good but certainly, I have certain qualities in me and it is not as what some people perceive,” he said.

However, Ong conceded that it could have been a mistake to overlook the image building part and attributed his low-profile personality to his belief in Confucianism.

“I subscribe to the Confucius philosophy and Confucianism ask us to be humble – that you can be strong but you don’t need to say you are that strong,” explained the Chinese-educated Ong who was a school teacher before entering politics.

Ignored by government-linked mainstream media, Malaysia’s opposition waged an aggressive online election campaign using blogs and news websites.

For example, 67-year-old opposition Democratic Action Party chairman Lim Kit Siang ran three blogs, which were meticulously updated with multiple posts every day. Like many other opposition leaders, he was able to reach out to young urban and educated people, many who were voting for the first time. Mr Lim won a parliamentary seat in Ipoh Timor.

Yesterday, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, whose position has been considerably weakened after his coalition’s drubbing at the polls, admitted that his ruling coalition made a blunder by underestimating the power of the Internet.

“We made the biggest mistake in thinking that it was not important,” he said. The coalition suffered its worst results ever in March 8 polls that left five states and a third of parliamentary seats in opposition hands. (Now what? Bloggers are important eh? Are you going to order Nazri to make a public apology to bloggers?)

“We certainly lost the Internet war, the cyber war,” Mr Abdullah said in a speech to an investment conference. “It was a serious misjudgement. We thought that the newspapers, the print media and the television were supposed to be important, but the young people were looking at SMSes and blogs.” (You are wrong. Not only you lost the Internet war, you also lost our trust. The mainstream media were in fact supposed to be important if, but only if, mainstream media were not biased toward emphasizing on how good BN is doing when BN is actually not. Haven’t you realized we rakyat feel so sick of the mainstream media already?)

His comments constitute a major about-face for the government, which had vilified bloggers, calling them liars and threatening them with detention without trial under draconian internal security laws. (Now you regret huh?)

Even as he spoke, his critics in the United Malays National Organisation (Umno), his power base, were moving to force him out of office. To make matters worse, Umno’s 3.2 million members have also received a poison-pen letter listing his faults. It is not known if he was aware of these moves when he was making his speech.

The poison-pen letter, which hopes to ignite hatred against Mr Abdullah, talks about the manipulations of the government by his son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin and his associates, the PM’s alleged willingness to appease Singapore and his inability to fight rising crime in the country.

But in his speech, Mr Abdullah said that in line with reform promises after the humiliating election results, the government would “respond effectively” and move to empower young Malaysians. “It was painful … but it came at the right time, not too late,” he said. The PM admitted that it was also his inability to push through reforms that earned voters’ ire. (Now only you admit your inability, thank you. I truly thank you for being a sleepwalking PM, otherwise we would not have five non BN-led state government now.)

The government, he said, had been given one last chance to prove itself and is ready to change to address the people’s concerns. He promised to implement bold agendas to restore public and investor confidence. “Malaysians have sent us a strong message — either we make it or we will fall. It’s not my intention to allow the party to fall while I am still in charge; we have to work hard; mistakes must be rectified.” (Mistakes must be rectified, correct correct correct, please abolish the infamous ISA and release HINDRAF 5 and all other ISA detainees.)

The impact of young voters on the electoral results was particularly underscored in Selangor, which fell to the opposition. The state has about 143,000 new voters out of a total electorate of more than 1.5 million.

“The Internet definitely played a role in getting young people to vote,” said 25-year-old Michelle Gunaselan, a founding member of online electoral education group VotED. “A day after the election results, we received lots of messages on VotED from young people, who are now generally more hopeful about their political future.”

But blogger Jeff Ooi, 52 — who won as a DAP candidate in Penang, one of five states that fell to the opposition — said Web users are not limited by age. “We attract many citizens above 45 years old and these are the people who are more interested in politics and the oppositions’ viewpoint.”

Mr Ibrahim Suffian, director of opinion research firm Merdeka Centre, pins part of the blame on the nation’s mainstream media, which churned out biased coverage and also masked the administration’s flaws.

More factual reporting was provided, for instance, by online journal Malaysiakini, which gets about 100,000 hits daily, but it does not enjoy good relations with the authorities.

But things may improve with the government’s apparent change of heart. New Information Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek said he hopes to meet bloggers soon as they are key to the bridge he wants to build between the government and the people.

Still, will the mainstream media shed its perceived one-sided reporting style? Mr Ibrahim said they need to regain its credibility as an honest broker of information.

“Some newspapers are now reporting not only about the opposition but also pushing issues to the fore,” he said.

They are racing against time to regain public confidence and preserve economic viability. For the PM, it’s a race for political survival as well.

I was at a party on Saturday night and one Chinese man who sat beside me commented that ‘we Chinese are scared of PAS because we don’t want Malaysia to be turned into Iran’. I then asked him what exactly is it like in Iran and he was at a loss for words. He could not reply to my question. I then asked him if he had ever gone to Iran and he shook his head. Had he even gone to Kota Bharu? No!

I then commented that if I see dark clouds in the sky and if I hear thunder, I can safely assume that it will rain. “Can I in turn ask you, what are the signs that gives you the impression PAS will turn Malaysia into Iran?” I asked this Chinese man. He muttered below his breath that ‘this is just what we Chinese think’.

“Sure, there must be a reason as to why Chinese think this way,” I replied. “What are the reasons?” He did not reply.

“Okay,” I continued. “Why do the Chinese assume that Malaysia will turn into Iran (though this certain Chinese man had no clue as to what it was like in Iran). Why can’t you instead assume that Malaysia will be turned into Turkey?”

The crowd – which gathered there after Friday prayers around 2.30pm – chanted slogans such as ‘Don’t sideline the Malays’ and ‘Do not abolish the NEP’.

The protest, led by Penang Umno secretary Azhar Ibrahim, to protest Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s declaration that the new DAP-led state government would do away with the New Economic Policy (NEP) policies.

The PKR-DAP-PAS coalition is only expected to form the new state government in Selangor today but it already has a zealous opponent – former mentri besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo, who will lead the new opposition BN coalition.

“We as the new opposition will do everything to ensure that the opposition-led state government will fulfil all of its pre-election promises,” he told a packed press conference held at Umno Selangor headquarters in Shah Alam late last night.

In a move that can be likened to rattling the war drums, Khir said that he has distributed all of the opposition’s election manifestos to each of BN members and had instructed them to scrutinise the progress of the new state government’s implementation of their promises.

“Don’t worry, we are only helping them in ensuring that the promises they made will be implemented so that the welfare of the Selangor people are safeguarded,” he said caustically.

The first BN offensive, he said, will be to register all 62-year-olds in Selangor in the government hospitals as the opposition had promised that those above the said age in the state will receive free healthcare.

“Secondly, we will register all children to childcare centres in Selangor as the opposition had promised to provide free childcare services,” he said followed by a loud cheer from supporters.

According to the former chief minister, such actions were only meant as measures to guarantee that the PKR-led state government safeguard the interests of the Selangor people.

“So again I say don’t worry. We only want the best for the Selangor people and we will cooperate,” he smilingly said.

KLANG: Former Port Klang assemblyman Datuk Zakaria Md Deros died after suffering a heart attack early Tuesday morning.

The controversial 62-year-old politician was dropped from the Selangor Barisan Nasional line-up for the general election.

He was replaced by his daughter-in-law Roselinda Abdul Jamil as the candidate for the seat, which she did not win.

Also a former Klang municipal councillor, Zakaria hogged headlines last year when he had a run-in with the law for not submitting building plans for a mansion that was described as a virtual “istana” (palace) by his critics.

He was also found to have not paid the assessment for another property for 12 years, while his family was caught operating an illegal satay restaurant on government reserve land.

Due to these controversies, Zakaria gave in to mounting pressure and withdrew from being a municipal councillor.

His mansion has 21 bathrooms and 16 bedrooms, including 11 that occupied by each of his children, as well as a VIP room, three living rooms, a dining hall and a prayer room.

The house also has a swimming pool, several gazebos, an orchard, a two-hole golf lawn, an office, a storeroom, two rooms for maids as well as a wet kitchen and a dry kitchen.

He is expected to be buried in Malacca.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) – An international human rights group said Wednesday it fears Malaysians will not get a fair vote in this week’s general elections because of an uneven playing field favoring the ruling National Front coalition.New York-based Human Rights Watch urged Malaysia to eradicate bias from the electoral process. Opposition and activist groups say the process is rife with irregularities including government control of the media, restraint on opposition rallies and names of dead people on voting registration lists.

“Once again, elections in Malaysia are grossly unfair to the opposition,” Elaine Pearson, the group’s deputy Asia director, said in a statement. “Malaysia’s ruling coalition is too comfortable with the status quo to allow reforms that would level the playing field.”

Malaysian Law Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz denied the allegations, accusing Human Rights Watch of trying to discredit the elections because “they know the National Front will win.”

“To me, Human Rights Watch is biased. They are not important at all. It’s only their opinion,” Nazri told The Associated Press.

He said the opposition parties’ active participation – they are contesting almost all the 222 parliamentary and 505 state legislature seats – shows the elections “are free and fair.”

The polls Saturday will be a crucial test of Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s popularity amid mounting complaints over corruption and racial and religious discrimination. These grievances led to rare protests by tens of thousands of people in Kuala Lumpur in November.

Abdullah’s National Front won 91 percent of parliamentary seats in 2004 polls, but it has acknowledged it may win fewer seats this time.

The opposition hopes to deny the National Front a two-thirds majority, which allows it to amend the constitution.

Election Commission chairman Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman says cheating has never been proven.

Human Rights Watch called on poll monitors to probe claims of fraud and irregularities and post vote tallies outside polling stations for greater transparency.

The rights group also called on the government to ensure equal state media access for all parties, saying television and radio gave no time to opposition candidates and newspapers report on the opposition “at their own risk.”

In Malaysia, almost all media outlets are linked to parties in the ruling coalition, and publications need government printing licenses that must be renewed annually.

For those who are traveling back to hometown for voting, you can actually claim from BN traveling allowance between RM50 – RM80. All you have to do is to go to the nearest MCA office to claim your traveling allowance. They will check your voting station from their register system.

Advise all outstation voters to make the claim if you are traveling back to hometown, since the govt has allocated the sum for this purpose. Past year, no balance, all fully claimed.

Better for you to claim that passing this fund to other “no use hands”. Quite reliable the source cause is from someone who is working inside BN. No harm to give it a try to claim your traveling allowance since is from our tax $$ ^_^.

PENANG: Do not compare Singapore’s economy with that of Malaysia’s.It is like comparing “first-class grapes (Singapore) with first-class apples (Malaysia),” Prime Minster Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said when addressing the Chinese community at the Penang Chinese Town Hall (PCTH) dialogue session yesterday.

“We are a population of over 20 million and we rank eighth in the world in terms of our competitiveness.”This is not the Government’s figure and I am not telling you lies. This statistic is from an international survey.”

“If I quote statistics from our own surveys, you will not believe us. Everywhere I go, the business community tells me that Malaysia is doing very well. These people are smart. You cannot fool them because they are well-read,” he said, adding that the Government had no reason to lie.

“Please trust us – we are your government. If you look at the economy, we are doing well. That is a fact proven by figures. But people still claim otherwise because of increasing prices. This is a very simplistic way of analysing the economy.”

“Nobody is happy to see prices rising but this is out of our control. The question is not how to bring down prices but how to help the rakyat cope.”

“Every country in the world is faced with rising oil prices except maybe Brunei but you cannot compare. The RM40bil oil subsidy we give out can be used to build better schools, roads, hospitals and infrastructure but we don’t want to burden the people,” he said, adding that education and medical treatment was also heavily subsidised by the Government.

“We subsidise even water and electricity, yet people are angry when they hear the word ‘toll’. We try to subsidise as much as possible but we still need to impose toll charges because we need to build roads,” he said before thanking the Chinese community for contributing to the country’s economy.

“The private sector is dominated by the Chinese and I want to say a big ‘thank you’ to the community for creating so many job opportunities,” he said.

Malaysia’s population is hovering around 26 million. It is said that if we add the illegal immigrants and ‘legal’ foreign workers, this figure may be close to 30 million. Nevertheless, what we are concerned about are the 15 million Malaysians who are eligible to vote and who will make that important decision which will determine the future of this nation of ours. Yes, 15 million Malaysians decide who runs this country which in turn will decide how this country is being run.

But sadly, only half these 15 million Malaysians will come out to vote. Roughly eight million or so Malaysians will take the trouble to cast their votes. And I can safely forecast that five million votes will go to the 14-party ruling coalition while only three million votes will go to the three very-divided opposition parties, giving the ruling coalition a majority of two million votes. Nevertheless, this two million vote majority is enough to give the ruling coalition a clear two-thirds majority in Parliament as well as in the State Assemblies, save maybe Kelantan.

What happened to the other seven million eligible voters? Three million will just stay home and not come out to vote while four million do not even want to register to vote.

All the opposition parties can garner are three million votes. 12 million eligible voters will not give the opposition parties their votes. Of course, only five million of these 12 million will give their votes to the ruling coalition. Seven million will give their votes to neither the ruling coalition nor the opposition. These seven million people will ‘abstain’ from voting.

But the three million people who voted for the opposition are happy. They are of course not happy with the government but they are certainly happy with themselves. They have done their duty as loyal Malaysians who are concerned about this country and they will happily continue opposing the government by attending opposition ceramahs, participating in marches, rallies and demonstrations, and supporting any opposition program aimed at pressuring the powers-that-be to improve the current sorry state of affairs.

The other 23 million Malaysians — which include five million who voted for the ruling coalition, three million who did not come out to vote, and four million who did not register to vote — are not happy though. But while the three million who voted for the opposition quietly go about their business and support all the opposition programs, the five million who voted for the ruling coalition, the three million who did not come out to vote, and the four million who did not register to vote, make the most noise yet refuse to support the opposition programs or vote for the opposition.

You see these people everywhere — the five million who voted for the ruling coalition, the three million who did not come out to vote, and the four million who did not register to vote — and you will see them make the most noise in Malaysia Today’s blogs, posting comment after comment about what others should be doing to correct this sorry situation.

“The opposition should…..”, “Malaysia Today should…..”, “The Agong should…..”, “Anwar Ibrahim should…..”, “Parti Keadilan Rakyat should…..”, “The Democratic Action Party should…..”, “The Islamic Party of Malaysia should…..”, ‘The government should…..”, “Pak Lah should…..”, and so on and so forth. Everybody else except themselves should do one thing or another. They who suggest what others should do will vote for the ruling coalition or will not come out to vote or will not register as a voter. This is the profile of those who comment in Malaysia Today’s blogs. And they will get very upset if we do not agree with their suggestions or do not act upon them.

“Malaysia Today posts the news very late. We can read the latest news faster in Malaysiakini than in Malaysia Today. Malaysia Today is too slow. Malaysia Today should improve.” Yes, agreed, I do not deny that. Malaysiakini has dozens of full-time staff on fixed salaries and an office that probably costs RM1 million or so a year to run and you pay RM180 a year to read the news on Malaysiakini. Malaysia Today is a one-man show with unpaid volunteers to help out that costs RM150,000 a year to run and you get to read the news free-of-charge.

The grumbling, bitching and whining of Malaysia Today’s readers reflect their mentality. And those who are grumbling, bitching and whining the most are amongst those five million who voted for the ruling coalition, the three million who did not come out to vote, and the four million who did not register to vote. The three million who voted for the opposition are very grateful that they have a site to surf where they can read the news free, although it may be published 12 hours later than the other paid or well-funded mainstream websites. They understand that we do need to eat, sleep and go meet people after spending 12-15 hours in front of the computer.

Why do only three million Malaysians vote for the opposition while five million Malaysians vote for the ruling coalition, three million Malaysians do not come out to vote, and four million Malaysians do not register to vote? Obviously the five million Malaysians who vote for the ruling coalition do so because they have confidence in the government. However, the three million Malaysians who do not come out to vote and the four million Malaysians who do not register to vote do not support the ruling coalition and at the same time do not have confidence in the opposition as well — so they would rather not ‘waste’ their votes.

And this is why Malaysia is in this sorry state of affairs, because only three million Malaysians vote for the opposition. 12 million Malaysians who are eligible to vote would rather vote for the ruling coalition or would not come out to vote or would not even bother to register as voters. But these 12 million Malaysians make the most noise. These 12 million Malaysians are angry with the Agong and the Rulers. These 12 million Malaysians blame the Agong and the Rulers for the country’s sorry state of affairs. These 12 million Malaysians want the Agong and the Rulers to do something. These 12 million Malaysians threaten that if the Agong and the Rulers do not take action then the Monarchy might as well be abolished and Malaysia be turned into a republic.

I am actually quite fed up with these 12 million Malaysians. It is because of them that Malaysia is facing this predicament. Three million Malaysians did what they thought was right and they are not grumbling. They just quietly go about their business and support whatever programs the opposition organises plus vote for the opposition come Polling Day. It is these 12 million Malaysians who offer 101 reasons why they vote for the ruling coalition or refuse to vote or refuse to register to vote who grumble, bitch, and whine the most. And to these 12 million Malaysians it is the Agong, the Rulers, the opposition, and everyone else who are to blame. They, the 12 million Malaysians who offer 101 reasons why they vote for the ruling coalition or refuse to vote or refuse to register to vote, are not to blame. They have legitimate reasons why they vote for the ruling coalition or refuse to vote or refuse to register to vote. And it is their fundamental right to vote for the ruling coalition or to not vote at all or to refuse to register to vote.

Hey, we respect your right to vote for the ruling coalition or to refuse to vote or to refuse to register to vote. No one is suggesting that this fundamental right be taken away from you. We, the three million Malaysians who voted for the opposition, bear you no grudges. But why are you blaming us, the Agong and the Rulers for what is presently going on in the country? We are not blaming you for this sorry state of affairs although you voted for the ruling coalition or you refuse to vote or you refuse to register to vote. We accept the fact that this is your right. But why are you blaming us, the Agong and the Rulers?

I would like to suggest to the Agong and the Rulers that they just sit back and do nothing. Why should the Agong and the Rulers take the trouble to sort out this nation’s problems? If 12 million Malaysians voted for the ruling coalition or refuse to vote or refuse to register to vote then we three million Malaysians who voted for the opposition, plus the Agong and the Rulers, should not be pressured into correcting what was not our doing in the first place.

Let the government extend the tenure of the Chairman of the Elections Commission beyond his retirement age. Let the government appoint the Umno lawyer as the next Chief Justice of Malaysia. Let the government gerrymander the electoral boundaries so that all the ruling party needs is 50% of the votes and still rule with a two-thirds majority. Let the government set up a Mickey Mouse Royal Commission of Inquiry to investigate the Lingam Tape. Let the government stifle dissent and free speech and arrest all those who participate in ‘illegal assemblies’ and detain the leaders and organisers under the Internal Security Act. Let the government come out with religious decrees or fatwahs declaring Buddhist statues as haram and which should be banned. Let churches and temples be demolished and non-Islamic religious symbols removed from missionary schools. Let the ruling party Members of Parliament scold the non-Malays and ask them to go back to China or India if they are not happy with this country. Let the government abuse its authority and power and misuse our funds on grandiose and wasteful projects.

I am going to write a letter to the Agong and the Rulers to advise His Majesty and Their Highnesses to stay out of all this. We three million opposition voters have done our job. Let the rest of the 12 million voters do theirs as well. Why should we three million opposition voters, the Agong and the Rulers carry the blame and be pressured into taking action on what is happening to this country? If the 12 million eligible voters who voted for the ruling coalition or refuse to vote or refuse to register to vote are not happy, then ask them to do something. And if they are not prepared to do something and instead offer 101 excuses why they voted for the ruling coalition or refuse to vote or refuse to register to vote, then just leave them alone. We should turn our backs on them and stop bothering about them. Only when they join us three million voters who voted for the opposition should we bother about them. Until then, you go your way and we will go ours. We will not deny you your right to vote for the ruling coalition or to refuse to vote or to refuse to register to vote. You, in turn, should not pressure us into doing something to correct what was not our doing.

The few people who are unhappy, make a lot of noise. It is reported, people read, and think there is a crisis.

Crisis means it involves the whole country but nobody talks about it. I even asked my fellow members of parliament (MP) but nobody talks about it. So, what crisis are we talking about?

The crisis is in the minds of those who created it.

Q: Some 1,000-2,000 lawyers were involved in the Bar Council walk. Are you saying that that many lawyers have been misled?

A: Only 1,000 went to the ground. There are 13,000 registered members of the Bar.

Q: You don’t think 1,000 is enough?

A: 1,000 of 13,000 — is that a majority? What’s the big deal?

The dropping of all 37 charges against the ‘King of Klang’ Zakaria Mohd Deros has raised more questions than it has settled, Opposition Leader Lim Kit Siang said today.

He decried the decision to drop the charges as “another grave blow to public confidence” in the independence, integrity, and professionalism of the state institutions.

“Were the authorities serious in charging Zakaria with 37 offences under the Companies Act 1965 in the first instance?” asked Lim.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their car after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their check book, or making a list, etc.) DON’T DO THIS! The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. 5. A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:
   • Be aware: look around you; look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat. (And check out under the car as you approach.)
   • If you’re parked next to a big van you should enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.

Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women? He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked “for help” into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

   Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird. The police told her “Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.” The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, “We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.” He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby cry recorder and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they heard baby cries outside their doors ! when they’re home alone at night. Please pass this on! and DO NOT open the door for a crying baby.

   This e-mail should probably be taken seriously because the Crying Baby theory was mentioned on: America’s Most Wanted this past Saturday when they profiled the serial killer in Louisiana.

I crawled out off bed Wednesday morning with a heavy hangover. No, I did not spend the previous night boozing away. I went to bed Tuesday night coughing and wheezing and I knew I was going to wake up the next morning with a touch of flu. Nevertheless, Wednesday morning would be when Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will address the assembly of 100 or so bloggers and writers. So, like to or not, I would have to drag my sick arse to Putrajaya to video-record the event.

I spent the rest of Wednesday afternoon plus Thursday morning working on the video. After I had uploaded the 21-part video, I leaped into bed and slept soundly. I woke up later that evening to update the website and then went back to sleep. I even missed my ‘Thursday night’ and this made me quite pissed really.

Understandably, I am in a most foul mood today — what with the flu, coughing, sneezing, dribbling nose, and missing my ‘Thursday night’ to boot. And when I am in this type of mood I do not write nice things. I will whack and whack hard. And today I want to whack the Malays for being so stupid.

The issue that has got me all riled up is the matter of Wee Meng Chee, the Malaysian student in Taiwan who redid our National Anthem into rap format. Actually, I looked at the video and found it rather clever. Now, don’t get me wrong, I did not say I approve of it. It is like me saying that I am awed at how clever a certain jewel thief is. He is certainly the best jewel thief in the world. No one can stop him and he has never even got close to getting caught. Nevertheless, in spite of his skill, he is still a thief and nothing more than that. Only that he is the best and should be acclaimed as so.

The StarThe Sultan of Selangor wants politicians in the state, regardless of which parties they belong to, to put politics aside and refrain from bringing up contentious issues ahead of the 50th National Day celebrations.

Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah said he did not want anyone to dampen the mood of the celebrations but to instead instil the Malaysian spirit.

“The celebrations are a once-in-a-lifetime event, keep the politics out for the time being. I want the people to focus on the common issues and be proud of Malaysia as one people.

“The politicians, regardless of their parties, can have all the time they want to talk about politics after National Day but for now, I do not want to hear any issues that can hurt the feelings of any community,” he said.

The Sultan said he wanted Malaysians to understand that the country’s independence was achieved through the unity of all the major races.

He said that unity, through the sharing of political power, had continued until today and that it should be emphasised by the politicians.

“National unity, involving the Malays, Chinese and Indians, brought us independence and subsequently, through the unity of the other ethnic groups, helped us form Malaysia.”

“Let no one forget that we achieved independence because of that. No one race could have brought Malaysia to what it is today,” he said in an interview.

The Sultan expressed his unhappiness over statements brought up by various politicians of late on race and religion, saying these were issues that no one should harp on.

The state head of Islam said Islam was the country’s official religion and its position must be respected.

“But I also want Muslims to respect the religions practised by other Malaysians.”

He said no politician or group should attempt to gain popularity by stirring up such issues, as Malaysia was a multi-racial country.

“This country belongs to all Malaysians regardless of their race and everyone has a right to feel as Malaysians. This should be emphasised, particularly as we celebrate the National Day together,” he said.

He also said that in such a short time, Malaysia had attained notable economic success because of the country’s political stability.

Malaysia, he said, was blessed and Malaysians had often taken for granted that stability because they had never gone through hardship, especially the post-Merdeka generation.

Sultan Sharafuddin also said that he has directed all government agencies and schools in the state to fly the national flag.

“The national flag can take precedence over the Selangor flag in this period,” he said.

He said Selangor wanted to stress the purpose of national unity by flying only the Jalur Gemilang.

The Sultan said that on Aug 27, all the palaces of the Selangor royal house would fly the national flag, which had never been done before.

The next time you are stopped by persons who claimed they are plain clothes police, you are under no obligation to answer their questions or follow their orders, lawyers told Malaysiakini today.

“Policeman who is not wearing his uniform does not have the authority to stop anyone.” lawyer and human rights activist Sivarasa Rasiah said.

Sivarasa was commenting on the alleged gang-rape of an 18-year-old Uni student by four men claiming to be police officers on New Year’s Eve. The girl said that her car was stopped in Taman Tun Dr Ismail in Kuala Lumpur and were asked by the men to open the car bonnet. She was then told that she had committed an offence and ordered to follow the men to a police station. The girl was driven in her car along the North-South expressway to the Tapah-Cameron Highlands road before she was raped in an oil palm estate.

This incident, and many others, have sparked confusion over the procedures which motorists must follow when flagged down by the police. The most common problem is that most people take instructions without determining if the other person is really a cop,” lawyer Annie Santiago said.

However, if you are stopped by a uniformed policeman, then you are required to stop. But you need not get out of the car because you are not expected to do so, Santiago said. He other rule to follow is to provide your identity card only when you are asked to do so. “Even then, you should get his ID first to confirm if he is a cop. There is no harm in calling the relevant police station to verify if he is supposed to be on duty that day,” Sivarasa said.

Both lawyers said that motorists should never follow an officer to the police station unless one is under arrest. “If you are not sure, and your instincts tell you that something is wrong, then drive off to the nearest police station and lodge a report,” Sivarasa said.

In response to the alleged gang-rape of the 18-year-old, Women’s Aid Organisation executive-secretary Ivy Josiah called on the police to launch an education program to teach the public about their rights to prevent them from being victimised by bogus police officers.

Procedures to follow in the event you are stopped by uniformed police Officers while driving:

1. Stop the car and wind down your window.
2. If the police officers ask for your documents, request to see their IDs first.
3. If you are satisfied about their identity, ask them if you are being summoned, and for what offence.
4. Produce your identity card and driver’s license and wait to collect your summon ticket.

In the event that the police officers ask you to follow them to the police station:

1. Ask if you are under arrest and for what offence.
2. If you are not under arrest, you have the right to leave.

In the event you are flagged down by persons you believe could be plain clothes police:

1. Do not stop because plain clothes police officers do not have the authority to stop you.
2. Drive to the nearest police station and lodge a report. (The same procedure applies to pedestrians)

In the event the police come to your house:

1. Do not let them in before checking their IDs.
2. If you are not satisfied, phone the nearest police station and confirm if they had been sent to your house.
3. You are under no obligation to allow them into the house if they don’t have a search warrant.
4. Do not go with them if you are not under arrest.

In the event persons who claimed to be plain clothes police come to your house:

1. Do not let him in because they do not have the authority to do so.
2. Lodge a report at the nearest police station.

MANILA (AFP) – A jobless man was shot dead by a security guard for singing out of tune in a Philippine karaoke bar, police said Thursday.

Romy Baligula, 29, was halfway through his song on Tuesday night in a bar in San Mateo town, east of Manila, when 43-year-old security guard Robilito Ortega yelled that he was out of tune.

As Baligula ignored his comments and continued singing, Ortega pulled out his revolver and shot him in the chest.

Senior Superintendent Felipe Rojas said Baligula died instantly.

The security guard was detained by an off-duty policeman shortly after the shooting.

Deaths and violence are not uncommon in Philippine karaoke bars.

The popular Frank Sinatra song “My Way” has been taken off many karaoke bars in Manila after it was found to be the cause of fights and even deaths when patrons sang out of tune.

SINGAPORE: A water spout has been spotted from the eastern parts of Singapore.

Most callers to the MediaCorp News Hotline reported seeing what looked like a tornado or a twister over the sea.

Most said they saw the phenomenon at about 2.30pm and that the phenomenon lasted about 15 minutes.

Witnesses said it was moving in a circular motion.

The water spout could be seen in several areas including Chai Chee, East Coast Park, Suntec City and Potong Pasir.

Last August, a water-spout was also spotted off the coast of Sentosa Island.

The National Environment Agency (NEA) said intense thunderstorms were the cause of the phenomenon.

The water spout is a narrow column of water that is sucked to the base of a cloud, making it look like a funnel.

An average diameter of a waterspout is 50 metres and it has average wind speeds of up to 150 kilometres per hour.

The NEA added that water spouts will dissipate rapidly near the coast.

It also clarified that water spouts are not rare as there are actually several sightings each year. – CNA/yy

The second type of “hybrid” are crosses between populations, breeds or cultivars within a single species. This second meaning is often used in plant and animal breeding. In plant and animal breeding, hybrids are commonly produced and selected because they have desirable characteristics not found or inconsistently present in the parent individuals or populations. This rearranging of the genetic material between populations or races is often called hybridization.

Some hybrid equidae include:

• Mule, a cross between a male donkey and a female horse.
• Hinny, a cross between a female donkey and a male horse.

This is a very important information for lazy bum (too lazy to go out for dining on weekends) like me.

Normally, we cook the instant noodles by putting the noodles into a pot with water, throw in the powder and let it cook for 3 minutes.

Believe it or not, this is the WRONG method of cooking the instant noodles.

By doing this, when we actually boil the ingredients in the powder, normally with MSG, it will change the molecular structures of the MSG causing it to be toxic. The other thing that you may or may not realized is that, the noodles are coated with wax and it will take around 4 to 5 days for the body to excrete the wax after you have taken the noodles.

The Correct Way (which you may or may not know)

1. boil the noodles in a pot with water.
2. once the noodles is cooked, take out the noodles, and throw away the water which contains wax.
3. boil another pot of water till boiling and put the noodles into the hot boiling water and then shut the fire.
4. only at this stage when the fire is off, and while the water is very hot, put the ingredient with the powder into the water, to make noodle soup.
5. however, if you need dry noodles, take out the noodles n add the ingredient with the powder and toss it to get dry noodles.

According to local media reports, Lin Zhenghuang, 21, is accused of using the wireless connection to post a bomb threat message in July 2005 on Hardwarezone.com, a Singapore technology enthusiast Web site. Lin was charged in court yesterday.

A local English daily The Straits Times said the message was posted in the wake of the London subway and bus bombings. Some alarmed visitors of the Web site had reportedly alerted local police.

The police was able to identify the owner of the compromised Wi-Fi network and seized her computer. However, it later ascertained that she was not the author of the bomb hoax, the newspaper reported.

Charged under Singapore’s Telecommunications Act, Lin could face up to seven years’ jail and fines of up to S$50,000 (US$32,575).

In November 2006, 17-year-old Singaporean teen Garyl Tan Jia Luo became the country’s first person to be charged with accessing an unsecured Wi-Fi network, at his residential estate. He was caught red-handed by a resident, who reported the incident to the police.

Tan has pleaded guilty to the charges and will be sentenced in two weeks, according to The Straits Times. Charged under the Computer Misuse Act, the offence warrants a jail term of up to three years and a maximum fine of S$10,000 (US$6,515).

Not the first, worldwide
More than two years ago, a 21-year-old man was sentenced to nine years imprisonment in the U.S. state of North Carolina for using an unsecured Wi-Fi network to try and steal credit card numbers from a chain of home improvement stores.

According to a study by researchers at Indiana University, a significant percentage of Wi-Fi networks are insecure. In the study involving nearly 2,500 access points in Indianapolis, 46 percent were not running any form of encryption.

Story About a Melancholy

Partly due to my family background, I was a pessimist ever since I was a kid. Growing up in an Asian family – especially traditional Chinese family, I was no different from other kids. I was taught not to ask too many questions that may cause my parents embarrassment; I was taught not to do things which my parents thought was dangerous / bad for me. I was offered neither compliment nor encouragement that we so often need and deserve in our daily lives as a child, no compliments but blame.

“What? You lost again? I have already predicted you would lose the game, you are lousy.” my father ridiculed me with a cynical smile. Yes, I lost in a table tennis game. I was 12 years old; I represented my school for district level table tennis game, and I lost in the second round. I could have won the game if only I had self-confidence, too bad that’s what I lacked of since I was born.

It became even worse when I entered secondary school. I very much depended on Sih Han – my classmate-cum-best friend – in almost everything! He was like my leader, he had all my trust. He had helped me a lot on many matters but now I realised that it was not too healthy for me. Every time I have a problem, I would look for him for help and most of the time he did not turn me down. Some times he likes to boss me around, which he did not realised it. I did not like it but I just kept it to myself. Why? I was not good at talking and voicing my opinions let alone feelings; he always defeats me when we have an argument.

I remember that my self-depreciation went up to a level that I did not even dare to do a colour painting on a drawing paper for a group project. I was afraid that I will spoil the artwork; I only wanted to do some minor work. What a pathetic fellow, huh!?

Things have changed when I worked in Holiday Inn Shah Alam as a part-time waiter while waiting for SPM results. Sih Han and I got into a quarrel over a dish; yes, a dish! I felt aggrieved and angered and I listed him as an enemy since that night. He tried to talk to me but I just ignored him until my second year in college.

I basically started my new life when I entered college in 1996. Since I have no one to rely on after I quarrel with my best friend, I have to do everything by myself. I got to know new friends in college, my social circle became wider. I was very active in college; I joined many clubs: I was the president of table tennis club, executive committee of music club, executive committee of student council, and college web team member. I was involved in event organising such as college ball night and also did some band performances in college events. It was a huge step for me; I was a big contrast to what I was before I entered college. My self-confidence slowly built up during that time. Before college, I could not imagine that I would do band performance on a stage in front of more than eight hundred people. I felt like it was a hallucination. Now you see the big difference?

I thought I have improved but there were still some residual pessimistic elements in my mind; the pessimistic elements were slowly breeding again after I started my first job. That was where my nightmare began. Can you imagine that you never got your monthly pay cheque on time? Yes, never! I never got my pay cheque on time. I could only get it 1 or 2 weeks after the pay day and some times I only received partial payment. It really stressed me out when I have to chase for salary every month-end!

I quit the job a year later and joined my friend’s small IT Company. He was the company owner and he invited me to be his partner. Perhaps I was not well prepared to be in the business line. He was an emotional person. I felt depress working with him. After a short while, I felt reluctant to go to office when I woke up in the morning.

God must be kidding me; bad luck came to me all at the same time. In 2001, I fell into financial difficulty, I have many debts to clear – credit cards, car loan, insurance, phone bills. I got into car accident twice within 3 months and a thousand dollars were spent on the car repairs. I still could not forget what my ex-girlfriend did to me. She was in Australia while I was in Malaysia; she told me that she can’t bear the loneliness; she needed someone by her side, so she dumped me for a new guy. My father’s health condition was getting worse deteriorating as he was getting older, medical expenses was a big issue for us. As an eldest son, my eldest brother was not playing his role right. He was such an irresponsible person. He brought many troubles into the family and my parents had to help him out of it. My dad, my younger brother and I were disappointed with him. My younger brother and I gave up on him but my parents still worry about him. I remembered thinking, when a father still have to worry about his 28-year-old son, something must be wrong with this 28-year-old adult.

I have had so many problems running in my mind – my career, the financial issues, my family and my relationship. Anxiety, empty feelings, insomnia, feelings of hopelessness, and even suicidal thoughts came every now and then. I began to fantasize about committing suicide by hanging myself or jumping off the 15th floor or slitting my wrists. The possibilities were endless. Sometimes when I was driving in my car alone, I often had the urge to bang my car into the divider or a big tree so I can leave this world. I was struggling with myself whether to kill myself at that point of time, it was such a painful dilemma. Of course at last I did not do so otherwise I won’t be typing this essay.

I did not know I was on depression until I read an article about depression in newspaper. After I read the depression symptoms listed there, I was so shocked that I was already in a serious stage of depression, I needed to go for treatment but I chose to help myself. I searched on the Internet for information on depression and how I could cure it. I shared this problem with close friends and they were very surprised, they had tried many ways to show their warmth and support. Family and friends kept me alive, without them I would not have survived.

I decided to quit from my friend’s company. Fortunately I can still survive because I managed to get some freelance projects during the uncertain period. My eldest brother seemed to be growing more mature. Although he still did not contributed much to the family but at least he did not bring home any troubles anymore. I was lucky enough to get a new job in a short period. From there, I was gradually recovering from depression.

I have asked my net friends in kakilang.com whether they have suffered from depression or have you even had suicidal thoughts before. And the answer surprised me, most of them had suffered from depression before and that very little people feel like committing suicide. I shared my experience with them and introduced them a very useful and informative website about depression – www.allaboutdepression.com.

Depression is not a normal illness that you can cure by taking medication. The consequences of depression are so big that it can affect your daily life and as well as your family members. Committing suicide is often the solution taken by the depressed if not treated immediately.

MALAYSIA’S been at it again, arguing about what proportion of the economy each of its two main races — the Malays and the Chinese — owns. It’s an argument that’s been running for 40 years. That wealth and race are not synonymous is important for national cohesion, but really it’s time Malaysia grew up.

It’s a tough world out there and there can be little sympathy for a country that prefers to argue about how to divide wealth rather than get on with the job of creating it.

父亲最不放心的就是大哥。大哥一次又一次地让家人失望，尤其是父亲，不止一次地向我哭诉他对大哥懒散及不负责任的态度而痛心疾首。我只能告诉他说：「儿孙自有儿孙福，不要去想那么多。要不然，就当没有这个儿子好了。他要是能改过的话，老早就改了。他不认为自己有过错的地方，你再怎么说他也没有用。总之，放下执著，不要去钻牛角尖，最重要的是好好照顾自己的身子。」我对父亲说那番话的时候，眼中充满泪水，心里有无限的难过。

大哥如果有幸看到这篇文章的话，我希望他能有所醒悟。

有一個女生，因為跟家裡處得不好，所以很少回家。後來有一次回家，發現年老的母親走路一跛一的，不經意的看了母親的腳一眼，這才發現母親的腳指甲太長而長到肉裡面造成流血流膿。這時，她認真的看著已經很久沒有正眼看過的母親，才發現在她眼前的母親已經年老，老到已經沒有辦法彎下身來自己剪指甲，所以才會讓雙腳的指甲傷到肉，她哭了！從此她便每個禮拜回家，用一盆溫水先幫母親泡腳再幫她剪指甲。泡溫水是讓腳指甲變軟，才不會因為這樣不好剪而傷到母親的腳。

一直以為父母也應該跟我們一樣能適應這個變化的世界，新的科技、新的資訊，新的理財觀…直到最近幾年才知道他們追的蠻辛苦的，遙控器太多太複雜、聽不懂的專業術語、完全陌生的理財工具… 直到最近幾年才知道為了怕我們不耐煩，父母偶爾忍住了想說的話，想做的事。

如果沒有這次遠遊， 遲鈍的我也不會知道，一向熱心打點照顧我們子女無微不至的父母，退休十幾年的老爸，竟衰老得如此快速。

我們五姊妹只湊足了三個，決定陪爸媽去新加坡玩。去程的飛機上，老爸四小時都不願如廁，任憑我們好說歹說，他依然老僧入定，不肯起身。在每一站觀光區，他也是非到萬不得已才進男廁。

有次我觀察到他小解很久才出來，看不到熟悉親人身影，先是向東搜尋，繼而向西眺望。即使在這節骨眼，他也不願放聲大喊大叫，讓我們子女沒有顏面，站在陌生人群中，一副茫然失魂的樣子，安靜、耐心等子女們的出現，我終於瞭解他出門在外不願如廁的原因。

以前不解事的小兒子常笑他八十幾歲的外婆，連鈕釦都不會扣，真慢！真笨！

好簡單的一件事，為什麼老人家們就是做不好？有時候手腳會不由自主、不聽使喚，我以為老爸和婆婆之間還有一大段差距，誰知他也不知不覺走到這個階段了。往後行程我根本無心玩賞，只要看到老爸表情稍有異樣，便好說歹說強行押解他到男廁，自己則只好守在男廁外頭，起初老爸感到萬分不自在，後來也就漸漸習慣了。

回程飛機上，我陪老爸去洗手間，他忽然低聲對我說：「其實我不會鎖機上廁所的門。」 我拍拍他肩膀，告訴他：「沒關係。」心裡卻翻湧出一陣心酸。心裡很想告訴同行的妹妹，下次出遊，把各自的老公也帶來，也可以多盡一份心，也很想告訴沒有同來的么妹，錢財日後都賺得回來，唯有父母健在安康，又能帶著遠遊，這才是為人子最大的福份； 想告訴老爸，如廁問題解決了，我們下次可以飛到更遠的地方去旅行。

一趟旅行帶給了我許多感觸，也讓再度離開家、身在火車上的我不禁滴下眼淚…. 或許是自己太多愁善感， 也或許擔心自己的父母狀況，只是自己一直沒發覺，才驚覺原來老爸老媽也變老了，變脆弱了， 不再是以前那「強壯的臂膀」、「溫暖的避風港」， 原來一直幫我扛著頭上那片天的巨人， 人也會變老….

会叫树的原因，是因为我擅长画水彩画，最爱画树，久而久之，我的画作右下方索性以一棵树来代表我。

不追她的原因，也许是潜意识觉得平凡如她配不上我；也许是因为怕在一起后，一切的好感都会消失；也许是怕外人的指指点点伤害了她；也许是觉得，她会是我的，不用急着为了她而放弃一切。
最后这个原因，让她陪了我三年，让她看着我和别的女孩子厮混了三年，让她心痛了三年。

叶子的离开，是因为风的追求，还是树的不挽留？

叶子的告白：

尽管如此，我还是想在他身边，关心他，陪他，爱他，也许算是一种等待的行为，等待他回来爱我，就像每天晚上等他的电话，等他的简讯，我知道，就算他再忙，也会拨出一些时间给我。这样的等待，陪了我三年，等待是难熬的，是令人想放弃的，但等到的那一刹那，让人第二天会继续等下去。这样的煎熬，这样的痛苦，这样的幸福，这样的矛盾，陪了我三年。
直到三年级下学期，高二一个学弟喜欢上我，每天的热情追求，令我从一开始的拒绝，渐渐愿意挪出我心房的一些位置给他。他像一阵温柔而持久的风，撩拨我这片摇摇欲坠的叶子，到最后，我发现我已经不想只留一点点的位置给这阵风，我知道这阵风，会带我这片伤痕累累的叶子，到更幸福的地方。
于是我离开了树，树只是笑笑，没有挽留。

一直到不知道第几次的告白，出了口，虽然知道她一定会又说到别的事，但还是有一丝丝希望她的答应，没想到她都不说话，“你在干嘛？怎么不说话？”我对着话筒说。

类似的故事，天天都在不同的地方上演着。无论结局如何，至少有一方是受到伤害的。我还没看破红尘，但是对于人世间的爱恨情仇也看得相当淡了。
风、树、与叶子根本是自找烦恼。
风以为只要不放弃，总有一天会成功地让叶子离开树。但是风错了，如果树挽留叶子，而叶子也不离开，那么风再强大也没有用。
叶子如果真的不想离开，虽然树不开口，叶子也可以明示或暗示树，至少可以得到一个答案啊。
当叶子说要离开时，如果树真的不舍得叶子的话，应该把握最后的机会去挽留她嘛！
风一厢情愿、树和叶子互相等待对方采取主动。
石头没有烦恼，因为石头只是旁观者，看着这些主角们上演的故事。生离死别或圆满结局，我都一笑置之，因为与我无关。

叶子的离开，是因为风的追求与树的不挽留。

《庄子·秋水》

这个故事发生在一条名叫濠水的河流的桥上。一天，庄子和惠子一起在此游览，庄子对惠子说∶“你看水里的鱼悠然自得地游来游去，这些鱼非常快乐。”惠子不太同意庄子的说法，就反问∶“你不是鱼，怎么能知道鱼是快乐的呢？”庄子反驳∶“那你也不是我，怎么能知道我不知道鱼是快乐的呢？”惠子抓住不放∶“我不是你，当然不知道你；可你当然也不是鱼，所以，你也不知道鱼是不是快乐的。”庄子答∶“且慢，我们看一看事件是如何开始的。惠子你刚才说的∶‘你怎么能知道鱼是快乐的呢？’这句话就因为你已经知道我知道鱼是快乐的，所以才来问我。因此，我可以告诉你，我是在濠水河的桥上知道鱼是快乐的。”
