In biology, hybrid has two meanings.
The first meaning is the result of interbreeding between two animals or plants of different taxa. Hybrids between different species within the same genus are sometimes known as interspecific hybrids or crosses. Hybrids between different sub-species within a species are known as intra-specific hybrids. Hybrids between different genera are sometimes known as intergeneric hybrids. Extremely rare interfamilial hybrids have been known to occur (such as the guineafowl hybrids).
The second type of “hybrid” are crosses between populations, breeds or cultivars within a single species. This second meaning is often used in plant and animal breeding. In plant and animal breeding, hybrids are commonly produced and selected because they have desirable characteristics not found or inconsistently present in the parent individuals or populations. This rearranging of the genetic material between populations or races is often called hybridization.
Some hybrid equidae include:
- Mule, a cross between a male donkey and a female horse.
- Hinny, a cross between a female donkey and a male horse.
- Zeedonk or Zonkey, a cross between a donkey and a zebra.
- Zony, a zebra/pony cross.
Hmm…… interesting facts.

Syok!
Inside MRT train.
Ah Lian: “Eh, I’m thinking to go for a trip leh, go Tioman or Rendang better?”
Ah Huey: “I think Rendang is better.”

Obviously these 2 young chicks don’t know the correct pronunciation and spelling of Redang island. Never mind, let’s do some learning here.
Redang Island, locally known as Pulau Redang or just “Redang” is one of the largest and most beautiful of the islands off the east coast of Malaysia. It is a popular holiday island for Malaysians, most of whom come on package deals to one of the resorts. Redang is one of nine islands, which form a marine park, and which offer snorkeling and diving opportunities.
Rendang is a dish which originated from the Minangkabau people of Indonesia. It is one of the characteristic foods of the Minangkabau culture, and it is served at ceremonial occasions and to honor guests. Being also popular in Malaysia and Singapore, rendang is traditionally prepared by the Malay community during festive occasions. Though rendang is sometimes described as being like a curry, and the name is sometimes applied to curried meat dishes in Malaysia, authentic rendang is nothing like a curry and doesn’t contain curry powder.
Class dismissed.
Nabeh! This piece of information is untrue, thanks aw and earl-ku.
This is a very important information for lazy bum (too lazy to go out for dining on weekends) like me.
Normally, we cook the instant noodles by putting the noodles into a pot with water, throw in the powder and let it cook for 3 minutes.
Believe it or not, this is the WRONG method of cooking the instant noodles.
By doing this, when we actually boil the ingredients in the powder, normally with MSG, it will change the molecular structures of the MSG causing it to be toxic. The other thing that you may or may not realized is that, the noodles are coated with wax and it will take around 4 to 5 days for the body to excrete the wax after you have taken the noodles.
The Correct Way (which you may or may not know)
boil the noodles in a pot with water.
once the noodles is cooked, take out the noodles, and throw away the water which contains wax.
boil another pot of water till boiling and put the noodles into the hot boiling water and then shut the fire.
only at this stage when the fire is off, and while the water is very hot, put the ingredient with the powder into the water, to make noodle soup.
however, if you need dry noodles, take out the noodles n add the ingredient with the powder and toss it to get dry noodles.
Hope this piece of information is of importance to your health in relation to eating instant noodles and please apply this cooking method with immediate effect.
